The Banana Tree

Across the street is a banana tree. Recently I saw a large pinkish blossom and soon after there were tiny bananas. I've learned that a banana tree produces several bunches of bananas (probably around 50 to 100 per bunch) and then that stalk dies down and another one shoots up and produces another stalk. From watching this tree the past year, I see that it takes about a year before the next stalk is up and ready to produce.
