The Hunt is On...

We have so many wonderful people who work to keep the Mission Home a wonderful place to live. There's Imelda our housekeeper, Ranie, the groundskeeper, Bro. Batara (our night guard),  Donnie, who helps with all kinds of things like changing the lightbubs or fixing a broken door. When we need extra help we have Jun (who can fix most appliances and computers), Bro. Manny who coordinates plumbers, electricians, etc. and the big boss Pres. T. (I can't spell his name). We wanted to do something to let them know how much we appreciate their great work. So we came up with the idea of hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for their children and grandchildren. All in all we had around 15 kids.

We made invitations and soon people were asking me "What's an Easter Egg Hunt?" When I described that you run around searching for brightly colored eggs and little baskets of candy, they got excited.

Sister Shaner and Imelda helped color the eggs. We did more than 100 hard boiled eggs. We also filled about 50 plastic eggs with candy (thanks to my daughter-in-law Melissa who sent me a bunch of stuff after Easter last year).

Our senior sisters came over early that morning and we hid eggs all around the premises of the mission home.  After the hunt we served cupcakes and brownies with a delicious 4 Seasons punch.

 Imelda had never seen anything like this, but she soon joined in the fun of coloring the eggs.

Our Easter surprise. We found a real bird's nest in a bunch behind the mission home with real eggs. They looked like candy eggs to me. If the children spotted them they were asked not to touch but to find the nearest adult and get a prize--pesos!
