Roxas is one of the districts in our mission. President Carlos has assigned the Shaners to focus on that district. Their job is to nurture the members, rescue the less actives, support the missionaries and assist them in their work, teach piano lessons and bring more music into their meetings, work closely with the district leaders and teach leadership.
We went with them on their first Sunday to introduce them to the people there. Wow, have they jumped in with both feet. They have already helped with family home evening, worked with the missionaries on numerous occassions, attended leadership meetings, volunteered to teach a cooking class (we had a typhoon last weekend and so that class was canceled but I'm sure it will happen in the future). They seem to love the work. We look at Roxas as a garden, for the next 23 months they will tend it, nurture it and love it. We know that the garden will blossom under their loving care.

We are so grateful for the Shaners and our other senior couples. Under their watchful care, we have lots of blossoming gardens in the Philippines Cauayan Mission.
