Our second quarter zone conferences focused on qualifying for the spirit, the Holy Ghost's role in the conversion process and how to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost. We loved seeing all our missionaries and focusing on this important topic. At the end president called on three missionaries at each session to share a talk on the subject. All the missionaries did a great job! We split our mission in half this time and had our southern half of the mission in Santiago and the northern half in Ilagan.

Our table decor included a bouquet with a beautiful butterfly emerging--we talked about the purpose of our ministry and that's to help others change (repent). We used the butterfly as a symbol of change.
Everyone's favorite Nanay prepared the food in Santiago--Adobo, Veggies and Rice. I made little carrot cakes for each missionary.

We honored Nanay and her crew with a special song "When there's Sunshine in Your Heart!" Our friend from Utah, Dennis Wright helped us write catchy new lyrics to that hymn. When we were done Nanay was crying.

We love to celebrate birthdays. Wow! We had a lot of birthdays in this quarter.

Everyone enjoys having time to visit with old friends from the MTC or other zones in the mission.
In Ilagan we had our lunch catered by Mang Inasal (a favorite chicken and rice fast food restaurant. They serve the rice in banana leaves and it's really moist and yummy. The chicken is marinated and then grilled on a stick.).
Our missionaries love each other. That makes our zone conferences such a happy time!

These missionaries served as our scripture experts. They shared their knowledge of certain scriptures with the rest of us.
We couldn't have such beautiful tables without the help of our senior couples. They all helped with the set up and clean up. We truly appreciate their dedicated service.
Everyone got plenty to eat. The senior couples greeted the missionaries at the beginning of the day with bananas and pandesal (sweet yeast rolls). Then with our lunch everyone was full to the brim.
Look at all those serious faces--lunch wasn't served until 1:30 and so they were hungry.

Oh, how we love our sister missionaries! In our mission they always get to be served first.
There was time for each zone to separate and role play.
Elder Landeen is addressing an investigator's concern after pausing and gaining help from the Holy Ghost. In this role play we were exercising this spiritual muscle that doesn't come naturally to most of us.
Our next zone conference will be our mission tour with Elder and Sister Teh in July. We look forward to learning and sharing with our missionaries again soon!
