Preparing Our Trainers

President Carlos takes the selection and preparation of our trainers very seriously. He always says that the most important job in the mission is that of a trainer. A trainer sets the standards for the new missionary. After much input from the Assistants, President prays and ponders over which missionary should train which new missionary. Only after he feels a sense of peace does he go forward. (This process takes several weeks and many hours in prayerful supplication.)

So after it is determined who will serve as a trainer, we call those trainers in for some training about week before their new companions arrive from the MTC.

This cycle we were to receive 13 new missionaries and so 13 great trainers were identified and trained. (Two of our trainers have trained before and so they didn't come in for the day of training)

 We began by singing praises to our Most High God. Then a prayer was offered--praying for those new missionaries safe arrival and for their success as they begin their service here in the Philippines Cauayan Mission.

 Each missionary was asked to think back about their own trainers and they selected three words that best describes what they appreciated about their trainers.

 Sister Saez will have an extra special assignment. She will be training a sister from Pakistan and so besides teaching her about missionary work she will be teaching her tagalog as our Pakistanian and Indian missionaries don't get to go to the MTC for language training.

 Elder Cuartel, Elder Fry and Elder Lisaca are such happy, friendly missionaries. Their new companions are sure to love them.

 Elder Reyes, Dionisio and Salvador are all excited to train.

Elder Reher, Mousley and Amoi will be fantastic trainers. They have become some of our best missionaries. (Why was Elder Amoi hiding from the camera?)

After a day of training these missionaries were raring to go! We are confident that they will be the best trainers for their new companions. This is going to be a great cycle!
